The 235,000 sq/ft Forster Mill as been undergoing asbestos abatement in preperation for redevelopment for several months. OSHA and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection have been actively involved in oversight of this redevelopment.

EPA Emergency Response and Planning Branch was notified of potential asbestos pipe wrap on the ground, in uncovered dumpsters outside the building and in effective security fencing.

OSC Sherrin and EPA's START contractor were deployed Friday August 19, 2011 to evlauate the situation and meet with the property owner.
