Trout Unlimited (TU) is conducting a Good Samaritan project to address abandoned fluvial tailings via in-situ remediation in Lake County, CO.  The project is near but not associated with previous work conducted by EPA's Remedial Program at OU11 of the California Gulch NPL Site.

TU is utilizing EPA's existing  Administrative Tools and CERCLA 107(d) liability protection for actions taken in the course of "rendering care, assistance, or advice in accordance with the National Contingency Plan (NCP) or at the direction of an On Scene Coordinator".

An initial site visit occurred April 17, 2025 and work on-site began September 8th, 2026.
