The former Hudepohl facility, located at 801 W. 6th St., was a brewery for more than 100 years, until closure in 1987. The property has remained vacant with the building conditions continuing to deteriorate. In May 2017, the Cincinnati Port Authority requested assistance from U.S. EPA to conduct a removal evaluation. The June 2017 EPA Site Assessment documented a 0.75 acre outdoor asbestos debris pile from a previous building demolition and asbestos in the partially demolished Old Boiler House building.
The U.S. EPA removal action was initiated on August 23, 2017 and completed on June 26, 2018. This cleanup removed a large outdoor asbestos containing material debris pile and asbestos debris in the Old Boiler House at the Site.
