On October 3, 2011,a fire and explosion occurred at the Magnablend Chemical Facility located in Waxahachie, TX approximately 35 miles south of Dallas.

EPA and TCEQ were on site working directly with the RP on response efforts. EPA performed air monitoring around the perimeter of the fire and downwind of the plume. Particulate counts and VOCs readings were collected to determine if additional protective actions were necessary. Air data tables and monitoring location maps are now available to the public.

On October 7, the remaining hot spots were extinguished with foam. EPA and TCEQ concluded their air monitoring activities. The Responsible Party is continuing air monitoring activities.

EPA Water Sample analytical data from samples collected on October 3, 2011, have been posted under the Documents Section.

The TCEQ is providing oversight to the RP for all remaining remediation activities.
