An Alabama and Gulf Coast locomotive struck an object across the rails near Pine Hill, Alabama. The engineer stopped the train to inspect the damage. After taking a mile to stop, the punctured tank came to rest on a bridge over an unnamed tributary of James Creek. The tank lost an unknown amount of fuel, which entered the tributary. Responders estimated around 100 gallons reached navigable waters at the bridge location. The train continued on to the nearest rail yard in Magnolia where rail workers attempted to stop and contain the leak. Turkey Creek runs along the rail yard. Given the heavy downpour during the event, there was a threat of impact to Turkey Creek from overland flow.
