September 28, 2004, NRC Report 736585

On Route 1 in Revere, MA an insulated tanker truck rolled over on it's side spilling 7500 gallons of hot liquid asphalt. An OSC came upon the incident while driving in the opposite direction. The DPW layed down sand to prevented the asphalt from entering storm drains and a salt marsh. The RP hired a contractor to remove the material, however the highway remained closed for many hours.
