At approximatly 2040 on January 28, 2014, railcars containing phosphoric acid derailed and are submerged in Fletcher Creek. Homes in the immediate area were temporarily evacuated but residents have return to their homes. There have been no reports of injuries or fatalities. OSC was not initially disptached due to the severe weather and multiple closed roads due to ice and snow.

Upon arrival, OSC Francendese assesed that four railcars with ninety-six percent concentration phosphoric acid were derailed into Fletcher Creek.. At least one is leaking. Each railcar contains approximately twelve thousand gallons. The release is currently impacting Fletcher Creek which is a slow moving waterbody. The severe weather has delayed clean-up operations by at least twenty-four hours. Highways needed to move the heavy equipment needed for the response are iced over and some are closed. OSC has entered into Unified Command with CSX and FDEP.
