On March 18, 2014, at 0100 hours, Sunoco Logistics reported a crude oil release to the National Response Center, report #1076964.
U.S. EPA and Ohio EPA responded to a release of an estimated 500 barrels (approx 21,000 gal) of crude oil from the 20-inch Mid-Valley pipeline, operated by Sunoco Pipeline LP. The pipeline runs from Hebron, Kentucky to Lima, Ohio, and has been shut down.
The release of crude oil is to an un-named stream leading into a pond located within the Oak Glen Nature Preserve, owned by Great Parks of Hamilton County. The pond is located within 500-ft of the Great Miami River. No crude oil has been observed to have been released into the Great Miami River.
Unified Command has been established with U.S. EPA, Ohio EPA, Colerain Township, Great Parks of Hamilton County and Sunoco Logistics/Mid-Valley. Sunoco Logistics has mobilized an Incident Management Team (IMT) to support operations, conduct a planning cycle, and prepare a daily Incident Action Plan (IAP).
Daily media briefings have been conducted at 1100 hours with representatives of Unified Command. Colerain Township PIO has been coordinating media briefings.

- Hamilton County Public Health
- Ohio DNR
On March 21st, EPA's Shoreline Clean-up Assessment Technique (SCAT) Team recommendations were initiated, including debris removal to increase creek flow to recovery points and flushing operations.
As of 0300 hours on March 30th, the Responsible Party (RP) (Sunoco Logistics/Mid-Valley) has removed approximately 39,971 gallons of a mixture of crude oil and water, of which 17,737 gallons is crude oil.
POLREP 6 (Final) was issued on April 2, 2014 to conclude emergency response phase activities. Remediation Phase continues with OEPA as lead agency. A Restoration Phase Plan will be submitted by Sunoco Logistics on April 2, 2014 to Great Parks for review and approval.
