On January 10, 2017 at approximately 1130 hours a sheen was discovered on the Indiana Harbor Canal. The USCG responded to the incident initially, and reported that a potentially responsible party was handling the cleanup. However, the USCG identified some other impacted areas. The source of the oil is still unknown. Arcelor Mittal Steel, is maintaining boom on the spill area.
