The State of Michigan requested assistance from EPA on September 24, 2020 with a release of sediment from Morrow Lake resulting from a controlled drawdown performed in order to repair a hydroelectric dam. EPA is assisting the state with the sediment release, which has impacted substantial reaches of the Kalamazoo River downstream of the dam. Historic sampling data has shown levels of PCB contamination in lake sediments.
