At about 0500 hours on the morning of 1/4/07, a gasoline tanker truck overturned due to a single car accident at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Franklin Creek Road. The driver of the truck was deceased and there was gasoline leaking from the full tanker. An estimated 1,000 gallons leaked as of the time of the report. MSDEQ responded and hired a cleanup contractor while attempting to track down a RP, believed to be Park Oil Company of Waynesboro, MS. MSDEQ requested EPA assistance. Outpost OSC Dean Ullock responded to the scene to assist with air monitoring and RP coordination.
