At the request of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VTDEC), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted a site investigation in April 2012 at Little League baseball fields, two residential properties, and an adjacent wetland located near the former JARD Company, Inc. (JARD) site, a former capacitor and transformer manufacturing facility from 1969 to 1986. PCB’s were detected in soil samples at the Little League fields along the fence line, in the basement sumps and floor sweepings of both residential properties, in an on-site pond at one of the residential properties and within the wetlands.
