On August 24, 2010, IDEM and Randolph County Emergency Management Agency documented abandoned drums at the Rickert Drum Site in Winchester, IN. On August 25, 2010, IDEM requested assistance from US EPA to evaluate the site for a time critical removal action due to leaking drums containing solvents.

On September 21, 2010, US EPA and IDEM conducted a site investigation at the Rickert Drum Site and documented approximately 210 drums on a small parcel north of Winchester, IN. Drum samples were obtained for lab analysis.

On November 22, 2010, US EPA initiated a removal action at the site. Drum sampling was initiated to prepare drums for off-site disposal.
