On 3/29/2019, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) discovered an oil spill discharging from drums and a burn pile onto soil, a nearby highway, and toward Newton Creek. ODEQ has estimated the volume of oil, a diesel and motor oil mix, at 200 gallons or more. ODEQ requested EPA assistance for the spill, and an EPA On-Scene Coordinator then opened the OSLTF and issued a Pollution Removal Funding Authorization (PRFA) to ODEQ for response and removal actions. ODEQ has mobilized state oil spill contractors to the site to conduct appropriate removal actions.
