On November 13, 2015 at 0846 hours, Santee Cooper Cross Generation Power Facility reported a release of 6,500 gallons of Sulfuric Acid from and above ground storage tank. The material left the containment, traveled across the ground and entered the coal ash storage impoundment pound. South Carolina, Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) is responding. On-Scene Coordinator (OSC) Brian Englert and Superfund Technical Assessment and Response Team Contractors were deployed to assist SCDHEC and provide oversight as necessary.
