Site Description 4/20/2022 01 Background
The Sisseton-Wahpeton-Oyate Tribe requested assistance from the EPA Emergency Response Program regarding some outdated chemicals at a laboratory facility in Agency Village.  An EPA OSC will conduct a removal action with the START and ERRS contractors.

EPA, START and ERRS Mobilize to site

EPA, START and ERRS review HASP and SAP

Create website and to help keep management, stakeholders  and tribe informed

Perform hazardous classification for un-known chemicals.

Identify and segregate chemicals in laboratory. Properly label and package chemicals for hazardous waste disposal.

Transport hazardous waste for disposal at approved landfill.

EPA, START and ERRS de-mobilize to site.

 
Response Operations 4/20/2022 02 3-5 May 2022

EPA, START and ERRS mobilized on 3 May 2022 and arrived on site 4 May 2022.

EPA, START and ERRS reviewed HASP and SAP.  A site safety brief was conducted with a tribal member working near site and the EPA, START and ERRS crews before any removal actions started on 4 May 2022.

A website was created to keep management, stakeholders  and the tribe informed.

START performed hazardous classification for several un-known chemicals found in the lab on 4 May 2022.

START and ERRS identified and segregated chemicals in laboratory. Properly labeled and packaged chemicals for hazardous waste disposal.

Transportation and disposal will need to be scheduled for a future date.

EPA, START and ERRS de-mobilize on 5 May 2022.
