Update--1200 11-15-2008 11/15/2008
Overnight operations continued last night. This is expected to be the last 24 hr shift.

Allied received approval from VADEQ to undike the rack area and discharge recent rainwater. Previous materials in this area had been containerized. Allied will dispose of the previously containerized liquids. General debris, metal, etc has been approved for normal disposal. This area will now be used for staging of equipment for the
on-site cleanup operations. A small crew conducted this operation throughout the night and removed the berm to the road, cleared general debris from the area.

The air monitoring crews continued to monitor at 6 fixed locations and utilized mobile realtime monitoring
throughout the night. All ammonia levels stayed low. Occasional spikes could be detected at the work
zone, but not at the residential area.

Public works repaired a small 2" water line. The rupture did not impact the neighborhood water supply system.

Today's activities will include moving remaining equipment
into the pipe rack area that was cleaned last night. This will effectively move all operations onto the facility.

Residents are returning to their homes. Public information officers are addressing neighborhood concerns. Drinking water wells do not show impacts from nitrates or nitrites.

EPA will continue to support VADEQ and the the local Fire Department until all product is removed from the tank containment area. EPA will also support VADEQ with its environmental impact assessments.
