COMMUNITY MEETING
SAN JACINTO RIVER WASTE PITS SUPERFUND SITE
Houston, Harris County, Texas
May 12, 2011

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in cooperation with the Texas Commission on Environmental
Quality (TCEQ), Harris County, and other Federal and State agencies, and local officials, will conduct
a Site Community Engagement Meeting for the San Jacinto site from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011, at the Highlands Community Center, 604 Highland Woods Drive, Highlands, Texas.

In conjunction with EPA’s Community Engagement Initiative (CEI), this informal meeting is to seek input from the public. Agency officials will provide community members with information about the Time Critical Removal Action underway and other health and cleanup issues.

The meeting is being held in a fully accessible facility. Should you have any specific needs or questions about the facility, please contact EPA Community Involvement at 1.800.533.3508 (toll-free).

DSHS public comment period open for Health Assessment 4/14/2011 Public Health
The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry has released the San Jacinto River Waste Pits Public Health Assessment – Public Comment Draft. The public comment period will be from April 7, 2011 through June 30, 2011. All comments received by the DSHS on the document in writing by June 30, 2011 will be addressed in the final Public Health Assessment document.

SUPERFUND INFORMATION MEETING December 16, 2010 12/9/2010 Site Update
You are invited to learn more about current activities at the San Jacinto River Waste Pits Superfund Site in Harris County, Texas. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in cooperation with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Harris County, other Federal and State agencies, and local officials, will conduct a Superfund Information Meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010, at the Highlands Community Center, 604 Highland Woods Drive, Highlands, TX 77562.

Agency officials will provide community members with information about the Time Critical Removal Action getting underway for the site and answer questions.
