Site Update
On July 22, 2013, excavation in the Area known as “D” began. The current brush/vegetation along the fence-line is being removed prior to actual excavation; any large shade trees will remain untouched. The actual depth of excavation will be to the bottom of the root-balls (3-4 inches) of that current vegetation. The current 6’ fenced between the residents and the site will be lined with a dust fence/fabric and a water spay will also be used to suppress any dust emissions. As a further precaution air sampling and monitoring will be conducted throughout the operation to ensure that fugitive dust is remaining on-site. As mentioned in a previous bulletin if any ore becomes visible it will be removed in total. The excavation is expected to take 3 to 4 weeks.

Site Update
For the preparation of site completion and close, during the week of June 10, 2013, Activity Based Sampling was performed at the site. The area sampled (known as “Area-D”) was bush-hogged and air samples taken for particulates. The analysis showed negative results for the Amphibole fibers. However, visible mica that could contain the Libby Amphibole was observed on the soil surface. Though, each particle may not contain the mineral it was decided through collaboration between WRGrace and USEPA, that as a safety precaution a surface scrape (~top 4” of soil and vegetation) will be done of the area. This work will be performed in the coming weeks; it is expected to take approximately 3 weeks to complete. Though it is not expected since WRGrace never used this area as it was outside the fence-line, should more ore be exposed during this process it will be removed in total.
