The Chemical Safey Board (CSB), OSHA and the insurance adjusters/investigators for CAI and Arnell made entries into the blast areas.  Appropriate levels of PPE were enforced for all personnel entering the site.  

Summa canister air sample collection was postponed due to poor conditions (high winds).

EPA and START personnel were present on the site.  Limited entries were made into the building footprint.

Summa can air samples were collected at 8 locations around the perimeter of the site and in the adjacent neighborhood.  These samples will be analyzed at the EPA Regional Laboratory in Chelmsford, MA for a wide range of volatile organic compounds.

All access agreements with commercial properties impacted by the expolsion have been signed.  The site is transitioning from an emergency response to a removal action

ERRS completed the demolition of two small commercial buildings and began site preparations for office trailers.  The demolition debris was loaded into roll-off containiers.  The cost of transport and disposal will be paid by the property owners.

OSC Nalipinski participated in a meeting with the boat owners and coordinated with the marina on a schedule for relocating boats if necessary.

Six liquid samples for hazard categorizations were collected from underground storage tanks.  Sample splits were prepared for CSB, CAI, Arnell and EPA/EPCRA.   OSC coordinated with the regional EPCRA office.

Clean fill was brought in for preparation of the trailer sites.

Media interest remains moderate. NECN was at the site in the morning.

The ERRS excavator began removing and sorting metal debris in peripheral areas.

Next Steps
Coordinate T&D; continue community outreach efforts; evaluate cleanup strategies and make improvements.

Key Issues
The community is expressing interest in the air quality data.  EPA is coordinating with ATSDR, MADPH and MADEP to address the concerns.
