EPA, START, and ERRS continue removal actions to remove creosote and creosote-contaminated soils. Efforts this week focused mostly on transportation and disposal of contaminated soils.
Transportation and disposal of contaminated soils was conducted this week. Creosote-contaminated soils are being transported to Ross Incineration in Grafton, Ohio. The OSC checked with the CERCLA offsite compliance officer in EPA Region 5 to ensure this facility was in compliance.
OSC to request additional funding to complete T&D of contaminated soils and perform additional excavation work at the Site.
An ERRS employee was injured on Site on 7/20/06 when he was accidentally cut with a power tool while cutting up debris. He was transported by emergency medical services to the hospital for treatment. The employee was treated and released.
