Pollution Report (POLREP) #24
Site Description
Removal onsite activities completed. This POLREP marks the demobilzation date of all Site personnel and equipment.

Current Activities
ERRS completed excavation, removal, and T&D of  creosote-contaminated soils on Site which were part of the removal scope.

Post-excavation samples were collected at the bottom of each excavation pit.  This information will be available for any future use or EPA activities.  START collected the samples and arranged for analysis.

Excavated areas were regraded.

Remaining equipment, logistics, and command post were demobilizad from Site.

Next Steps
OSC will await all certificates of disposal and cost information prior to submitting final polrep.

ERRS T&D Coordinator to prepare disposal report.

Key Issues
The OSC has determined that remaining contamination at the Site is a result of existing contamination and also contamination which may be migrating to/from the adjacent properties.  Because of the waterfront tidal influences and the exceptionally shallow groundwater, the creosote contamination is not limited to a particular area.

The OSC strongly recommends that any future action be addressed as an area-wide strategy rather than by property boundaries.  The Hazel Court Site should be included in any future actions.

The OSC wishes to thank all of the agencies who participated in this cleanup and provided exceptional service to EPA.
