Time-Critical - Removal Action Pollution Report (POLREP) #10
Site Description
The Site is a former orchard area that has had residential development.  Prior to an EPA ban in 1972, a variety of pesticides including lead-arsenates and DDT compounds were applied.

EPA conducted a removal action at one property at the Crozet Arsenic Site in Crozet, Virginia.  Historical sampling indicated that additional properties may need removal work.


Current Activities
ERRS continued transportation and disposal of arsenic contaminated soil.

6/4/07

ERRS continued excavating OA-176

ERRS began sodding activities on Orchard Acres property OA-44

START had the removal access agreement for OA-203 signed by the property owner.

ERRS installed the last solar panel and finished installing the last 2 lateral lines on the irrigation system.

6/5/07

START had the removal access agreements for OA-040 and for OA-184 signed by the property owners.

ERRS finished sodding activities at OA-044.

6/6/07

START collected 5-pt. Composite samples from both the front yard and back yard at 4 properties: OA-183, OA-184, OA-047 and HW-501.

START had the sample access agreement for HW-501 signed by the property owner..

ERRS continued excavation activities at OA-176

ERRS finished load-out of OA-176.

ERRS begins backfilling OA-176

Next Steps
EPA will continue to meet with residents.

EPA will continue to schedule removal actions at the Orchard Acres subdivision.

EPA will sample additional properties where residents requested it.  Analysis will be performed using an XRF.
