Time-Critical - Removal Action Pollution Report (POLREP) #12
Site Description
The Site is a former orchard area that has had residential development.  Prior to an EPA ban in 1972, a variety of pesticides including lead-arsenates and DDT compounds were applied.

EPA conducted a removal action at one property at the Crozet Arsenic Site in Crozet, Virginia.  Historical sampling indicated that additional properties may need removal work.


Current Activities
6/18/07

ERRS continued excavating and grading activities at OA-038.

ERRS began sodding activities on Orchard Acres property OA-038

ERRS pulls weeds from fern grids and does maintenance on the irrigation system at Highlander Way

6/19/07

ERRS finishes excavation activities at OA-038 and resumes grading and sodding activities.

ERRS begins excavation activities at OA-186

ERRS resumes excavation activities at OA-186

ERRS continues backfilling, grading, and sodding activities at OA-038

START re-programmed the timers on the valves on the irrigation system connected to the large poly tank

START collected 5-point composite samples from three residences: One backyard sample (OA-038-BY) from the backyard of OA-038; a front- (OA-202-FY) and backyard sample (OA-202-BY) from OA-202; and a front- (OA-161-FY) and backyard sample (OA-161-BY) from OA-161

6/22/07

ERRS began and completed excavating OA-196

ERRS began backfilling activities at OA-186 and OA-196

ERRS began and completed sodding activities at OA-186

ERRS prepped the driveway at 6075 York Avenue, site of a removed property in 2006 where the asphalt driveway was cracked due to removal activities


Next Steps
EPA will continue to meet with residents.

EPA will continue to schedule removal actions at the Orchard Acres subdivision.

EPA and its contractors will prepare for demobilization over the July 4th Holiday.
