Time-Critical - Removal Action Pollution Report (POLREP) #18
Site Description
The Site is a former orchard area that has had residential development.  Prior to an EPA ban in 1972, a variety of pesticides including lead-arsenates and DDT compounds were applied.

EPA conducted a removal action at one property at the Crozet Arsenic Site in Crozet, Virginia.  Historical sampling indicated that additional properties may need removal work.  

To date, twelve properties have had removal work due to arsenic concentrations above 58 mg/kg.


Current Activities
EPA mobilized to the Site to discuss upcoming activities with the resident.  

Seven plots were successfully remediated during the previous years growing season.  

EPA placed an order for additional 8000 ferns for use in phytoremediation.  


Planned Removal Actions
EPA and ERRS will mobilize to Site in May to continue removal actions.  A total of 16 plots will be addressed.
