Pollution Report (POLREP) #15
Site Description
The facility was known to use chromated copper arsenate (CCA) to treat fence lumber and mine lumber. Arsenic contamination has been determined as the main contaminant of concern, and an Action Memorandum has been approved for the removal of arsenic contaminated soils, sediments and residual CCA product in the pressure vessels and tanks on site.

Current Activities
Restoration activities have been initiated along the drainage swales and adjacent to the concrete pad. Contaminated soils from these areas have been stockpiled, awaiting T&D.

Crews continue removing residual CCA waste from Tank 04 and Tank 05 inside the treatment facility. All other tanks inside the facility have had CCA residual product removed, and have been determined by the OSC as needing no additional actions.

Stockpiled soil and waste sample data have been received from the lab, and ERRS is currently generating the bidding proposal for T&D of this material.

Samples from the CCA residual waste, which have been stored in rolloff containers onsite, have been sent to the lab for analysis. Upon receipt of the sampling results, ERRS will generate T&D procedures for this material.

Planned Removal Actions
Restoration activities using clean fill material will continue.

Excavation of the soils below the dismantled concrete pad area will begin following the completion of restoration activities across other areas of the site.

Next Steps
Upon completion of all excavation and CCA residual waste removal activities both inside and outside of the treatment facility, the floors of the treatment facility, and the remaining concrete pad area will be pressure washed to remove any remaining residual waste as a result of excavation and removal activities.

Key Issues
EPA's RCRA Program, WVDEP's RCRA Program, and the OSC will be conducting a teleconference this week to discuss the site activities associated with the CERCLA cleanup and status of the cleanup, and to discuss proper RCRA close out procedures that will be initiated upon completion of removal action activities at the site.
