Pollution Report (POLREP) #17
Site Description
The facility was known to use chromated copper arsenate (CCA) to treat fence lumber and mine lumber. Arsenic contamination has been determined as the main contaminant of concern, and an Action Memorandum has been approved for the removal of arsenic contaminated soils, sediments and residual CCA product in the pressure vessels and tanks on site.

Current Activities
Excavation continues in the area of the dismantled concrete pad, and soils are currently being staged awaiting disposal. Disposal of soils will begin during the week of July 28th.

Crews are in the process of completing the CCA residual waste cleanup of Tank 04 inside the treatment facility. Upon completion of Tank 04 operations, crews will begin the CCA waste clean out of Tank 05, the last tank awaiting cleanup.

Planned Removal Actions
Contaminated soils T&D is scheduled to begin during the week of JUly 28th, and soils will be delivered to a Subtitle C facility in Michigan.

The CCA residual product recovered from tank cleanup operations, the hazardous concrete and rail debris, spent PPE, and wastewater from cleanup operations will be disposed of separately. Bids on the disposal of these materials will be sent out during the week of July 28th, and it is anticipated that T&D of these materials will be awarded during the first week of August.

Next Steps
Soil, debris, and wastewater will be disposed of from the site.

Restoration of excavated soil areas is ongoing and will continue as the site moves towards completion.
