Site Description
The Site consists of 7 structures and 4 yards situated on 5 residential properties known as “homesites.”  In winter 2007-2008, U.S. EPA, in partnership with Navajo Nation EPA (NNEPA), investigated 56 homesites containing 113 structures.  The overall investigation identified 27 structures and 12 yards requiring response actions.  The 7 structures of concern and the 4 residential yards are located within the Teec Nos Pos Chapter area.  Two of the structures are occupied for residential purposes, although one resident has since moved to another structure on the same homesite.

ERRS - 6, EPA - 1 (OSC Guria), START - 1, USCG - 1: ERRS completed demolition of structure HS-0005-D (an abandoned house) and excavation of contaminated soils from this homesite.  START and USCG conducted air monitoring of the operations and scanned soils and debris for segregation.

On 10/25, demolition of structure HS-0005-C (formerly occupied hogan) was completed. Excavation and compaction of the replacement pad will continue on Monday, 10/27.

ERRS expects to complete Teec Nos Pos operations by 10/31, and begin to move equipment over to Cane Valley.

Next Steps
