Current Activities
During November, demolition operations continue and are 95% complete. ERRs began demolition of the concrete pad area and support structure of the tank farm. 20 tanks from the tank farm area have been removed, mostly through a cooperative effort involving Synthron management. Two remaining tanks containing paraformaldeyde-polymer mixed waste is scheduled for disposal, pending the completion of waste characterization and disposal three bid process. In addition, 664 RCRA empty drums and totes were removed from the site for recycling.

On November 2nd, following a review of storm water analytical analysis, North Carolina DNR issued a letter granting approval to discharge the remaining storm water through the existing storm drains located near the site. The water treatment system was cleaned and arrangements made to demobe the equipmernt from the site.

The USCG Gulf Strike Team collected soil samples under the former tank farm area for analysis. Results are expected next month. ERRs crew and USCG Strike Team demobed for the Thanksgiving holiday on November 17th.
