On the afternoon of 14 July 2007, Explorer Pipline notified the National Response Center (NRC) of a Jet Fuel Spill from its 28-inch line located just east of Huntsville, Texas. The release was first noticied by a near-by resident who called 911. The jet fuel was reported to have entered Turkey Creek.
The PRP contractors continue the following activities: .
The PRP contractor Eagle Construction has recovered 7,700 plus barrels of product. They are currently not working in the creek because they have completed clean up activities.
Returned sample results from the creek indicate some isolated pockets of product in zone 1. The PRP is currently trying to determine the best method to complete this removal.
All underflow dams and booms have been removed from Turkey Creek.
The last of the frac tanks are also gone at this time.
Removal of contaminated soil is currently in progress as the contractor has moved over to the East side property to remove soil around the exposed home.
Soil will continue to be removed from the site and be taken to a asphalt facility in Pasadena, Texas.
The contractor, Eagle Construction, will continue to remove soil. They have a close source of backfill material and when removal is complete will begin to replace soil with clean material.
Complete clean up of Turkey Creek as soon as best method is determined.
Determine best method to remove final product from Turkey Creek with out any further damage to the creek system.
