Site Description
On 8 November 2007, the EPA Region 6 Response & Prevention Branch received information of a fire located at Liberty Metals Recovery  facility located at 1729 North Westmoreland, Dallas, TX.  A fire started within a scrap metal/debris pile at the facility at about 16:15 hours. Dallas Fire Department responded to the fire and reported the fire extinguished at about 19:45 hours.

Current Activities
On 8 November 2007, at 18:00 hours EPA mobilized the EPA Superfund Technical Assessment and Response Team contractor (START III) to the site to assist for assessment activities and possible air monitoring support.  OSC Martin arrived on site at approximately 19:15 as the fire fighting efforts were concluding.  At 19:45 the fire was confirmed extinguished by the Dallas Fire Department and they began to demobilized from the scene.  START arrived on site at 19:55 and collected background information from facility personnel and collected GPS coordinates. START confirmed all fire water runoff had been contained on-site in an oil water seperator unit. The outfall from the oil water seperator was visually inspected, the water appeared clear with no visual evidence of sheen. After collecting the pertinent information, OSC Martin and START demobilized from site at 20:45 hours on 8 November 2007.
