Pollution Report (POLREP) #18
Site Description
On March 19th,  EPA ERRB responded to an oil well fire in Oliver Springs Tenn. The RP, Walden Resources hired Wild Well Services from Houston, Texas to put out the well fire and cap the well. After mobing necessary personnel and equipment, the fire was extinguished and the well was successfully capped on Tuesday March 25th.

On November 1st, 2008, Walden Resources agreed to an Administrative Order with EPA essentially permitting Walden to produce the well under the supervision of EPA's petroleum consultant, Mick Reed. Mr Reed supervised all safety and production phases of this project. Well head pressures exceeded 1200 psi when the well was capped in March 2008.

Current Activities
From January to May 2011, this well has stopped producing any significant amounts of crude oil but still produces a large amount of natural gas. TDEC Oil and Gas Glenn Burke has assumed oversight of the well at EPA's request. EPA's Oil and Gas consultant Mick Reed reviewed the cement bond logs and geophysic logs of the well down to 3900 feet and deemed that no future groundwater collection was necessary considering that no crude oil was being produced.

ERRs remobed to the site during the week of May 23, 2011 and removed the groundwater sump, the oil water seperator and monitoring well casings along the creek floodplain. No future plans are anticipated by EPA Region 4. All future well oversight will be conducted by Tenn Oil and Gas.

Planned Removal Actions
The OSC has relenquished all future oversight activities to Tenn Oil and Gas. This well is currently only producing natural gas.
