Current Activities
August 22, 2009 (Saturday)
•  ERRS pumped out the last of the PCB contaminated water from the Building #6 trenches.  The water was sent through the onsite treatment system and stored in a frac tank pending analysis.
•  ERRS continued backfilling the trenches inside Building #6.
•  ERRS decontaminated heavy equipment.

August 24, 2009 (Monday)
•  ERRS completed backfilling the trenches inside Building #6.
•  ERRS scraped the floor of surficial dirt throughout Building #6.
•  A small pit covered by a steel plate containing 6 to 8 55-gallon drums was discovered in Building #6.
•  ERRS conducted additional excavation of PCB contaminated soil inside Building #6. START collected confirmation soil samples upon completion of the excavation, and composite samples were collected from soil stockpiles.

August 25, 2009 (Tuesday)
•  ERRS exposed, assessed and sampled contents of the seven (7) buried drums discovered in Building #6 for hazardous waste characterization.
•  ERRS conducted miscellaneous backfilling of pits inside Building #2 and Building #6.
•  ERRS continued preparing the trenches inside Building #6 for concrete cover.
•  Battery’s were removed from site for recycling/reuse to Northern Mobile Electric, Inc.
•  ERRS discharged the treated wastewater (Batch #2) into the sanitary sewer after receiving approval from City of Canton.

August 26, 2009, (Wednesday)
•  ERRS continued cleaning the floor inside Building #6.
•  ERRS completed discharging the treated wastewater from Batch #2 into the sanitary sewer.
•  ERRS began decontaminating the water treatment system.
•  ERRS backfilled the remaining PCB excavation inside Building #6 after receiving laboratory analytical data.

August 27, 2009, (Thursday)
•  ERRS discharged the treated wastewater from Batch #3 into the sanitary sewer after receiving approval.
•  Transportation and disposal of two (2) roll-off box containing the vegetative debris removed from the settling pond.
•  ERRS completed backfilling the remaining PCB excavation inside Building #6.

August 28, 2009, (Friday)
•  ERRS placed a 4-6 inch layer of concrete over the trenches inside Building #6.
•  ERRS covered the PCB excavation inside Building #6 with stone.


Planned Removal Actions
•  Remove and dispose of PCB contaminated water from the pits associated with the building.
•  Remove and dispose of PCB contaminated sand, soils, and concrete.  
•  Performing final grading/covering of the property.

Disposition Of Wastes
A total of 3,144 tons of ACWM debris went to Minerva Landfill, Waynseburg, Ohio for disposal.

A total of 149 tons of mixed ACWM and PCB debris went to Minerva Landfill, Waynesburg, Ohio for disposal.

A total of 911 tons of ACWM debris went to American Landfill, Waynesburg, Ohio for disposal.

A total of 4,500 gallons of waste oil and waste quench oil went to the Chemtron Corporation for recycling/disposal.

A total of 816 tons of debris and sand contaminated with low level PCBs went to Minerva Landfill, Waynesburg, Ohio for disposal.

A total of 8 cubic yard boxes of foundry sand heavily contaminated with PCBs went to Wayne Disposal Inc., Site #2, Belleville, MI for disposal.

A total of 76 drums/totes of D001, D002 or other liquid waste went to Chemtron Corporation, Avon, Ohio for disposal.

Two (2) PCB contaminated tranformers went to Clean Harbors, Twinsburg Ohio, for disposal.

One (1) pallet of fire extinguishers went to Pitt in Canton, Ohio for reuse/recycling.

One (1) cylinder of nitrogen went to Ohio Air Products in Canton, Ohio for reuse/recycling.

One (1) cylinder of anhydrous ammonia went to Tanner Industries in New Castle, Pennsylvania for reuse/recycling.

A total of 140 tons of scrap steel went to PSC Metals, Canton, Ohio for recycling.

A total of 50,000 gallons of PCB impacted water was treated on Site.

A total of 30 tons of general site debris went to Republic Landfill, East Sparta, Ohio.

A total of 1,176 tons of TSCA regulated PCB soil went to Wayne Disposal Inc., Site #2, Belleville, Michigan, for disposal.
