Current Activities
Final work plan, quality assurance project plan (sampling plan), and health and safety plan have been submitted and approved by EPA.

The week of July 20, soil samples (cores) were taken using a GeoProbe at Site A to help with assessing the extent of contamination.  The samples were taken at varying distances and depths from the pits where the containers were removed.  Riverside Consulting Inc. is waiting on laboratory analysis of soils.

On July 30, Riverside Consulting, Ecology, and EPA met with subcontractor to review ground penetrating radar (GPR) results at Site B and to agree on areas to excavate.  A relatively small area will be examined whioh is similar in size to Site A pits.  It was decided that another section of Site B should be examined with the GPR.

Water sample results from three nearby residences did not show contaminats of concern in the drinking water.  However, arsenic, a common groundwater contaminant was found in the drinking water of which one was at 15 micrograms per liter, above the 10 microgram per liter maximun contaminant level set under by the Safe Drinking Water Act.  See Document Section for more information.  The residences were informed by telphone and sample results were mailed to them along with additional information prepared by Department of Health regarding arsenic.

Planned Removal Actions
An additional section of Site B will be assessed with GPR on July 31 or August 1.

The week of August 3, Riverside Consultants will begin excavating in Site B.

Removal work of soil and containers at Site A may begin the week of August 3, depending on if soil sample results arrive.

OSC is on vacation the week of August 3.  START contractor and Ecology will be on scene monitoring work and will confer with OSC Fowlow by telephone if any issues should arise.
