Site Description
Please refer to Polrep 3 for background information.

Current Activities
During the reporting period, activities at 1265 Loflin Hill Road included final grading, restoration of walkway and driveway, placement of mulch in flowerbeds and other minor tasks to complete the yard.  To date, 113 trucks of contaminated soil have been sent off site to the Uwharrie Environmental Landfill in Mt. Gilead, NC. Also, 195 loads of clean backfill and 75 loads of topsoil have been brought to the property.
Activities at 989 Loflin Hill Road, Lot 15 included locating of utilities and digging around the base of the trailer by hand, as well as, the placement of silt fencing.

Planned Removal Actions
The Removal Action at the 7* affected residences will involve a combination of excavation and capping with a barrier of clean soil of up to 2 feet and restoration.  Residents will be relocated while activities are conducted at their residence.
*Results of the August 2004 sampling event identified two more properties will arsenic levels above the Removal Action Level of 40 ppm.

Next Steps
The only activity remaining at 1265 Loflin Hill Road is landscaping.
The next steps at 989 Loflin Hill Road, Lot 15 include excavation and load out.  Residents in this property will not participate in temporary relocation because they will already be out of their home for the duration of the removal for other reasons.
Due to weather conditions, some of the most recent areas seeded may have to be re-evaluated.

Key Issues
Work was stopped at 10:30 am on February 3, 2005 due to heavy rain.
Rain and cold weather make it hard for the grass on the restored properties to grow; this will be a problem for all properties throughout the removal.
