The final assessment report was completed in August 2005. Several of the recommendations made in the report were implemented to improve the effectiveness of the existing groundwater recovery and treatment system; however, the treatment system failed in 2008. The Site remains as a chronic source of petroleum releases to Sand Creek.
In late November 2011, the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ) requested EPA's assistance with identifying a limited number of alternatives appropriate for addressing Site contamination. The FPN was re-opened in mid-December 2011 and the ceiling was increased from $65,000 to $85,000.
A review of existing information and the identification of cleanup alternatives was presented in a May 2012 technical memorandum. Four alternatives were evaluated in terms of effectiveness, implementability, and cost.
