Due to a prolonged period of heavy rainfall throughout the months of May and June the Cumberland Levee located in Bryan County, Oklahoma breached and waters of the Washita River inundated the Cumberland Oil Field owned and operated by Cimarex Energy. Multiple well locations and tank batteries were flooded with up to 70 feet of water. Multiple discharges of crude oil and gas have been observed. Cimarex is working with EPA, the USACE and the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to address the releases.
