At 1:30 AM on Friday December 4, 2015 a tanker towing a pub trailer with gasoline rolled on Eastbound I90 near milepost 81 at the Clem Elum River Bridge. Approximately 3500 gallons of gasoline spilled into the median approximately 100 feet from the Cle Elum River. Roughly 300 gallons of the fuel was recovered. EPA arrived on scene at 1:00 PM and joined unified command with Washington Department of Ecology, Washington Department of transportation, and the responsible party. Yakima Nation spill responders are on scene to provide consultation and ensure protection of downstream fish hatchery. There was no initial sheen in the river; response actions are focused on preventing oil from reaching the river and containing oil if it migrates to the river. Utilities operating downstream drinking water intakes have been notified; the downstream Yakima Nation fish hatchery is monitoring for oil impacts.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 4:00 AM December 5, 2015 to 4:00 AM December 6, 2015. Operations during this time will be limited in order to protect the safety of responders and travelers on the Interstate.
