On October 24, 2004 at 10:30 pm, Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) - Fort Worth District, called to request EPA assistance. Piles of various constituents (40 Pesticide Drums, hundreds of tires, plastic, manufacturing scrap and supplies etc.) were on fire and the Bonham Fire Department was unwilling or unable to put it out. FOSCs Harris and Leos were dispatched. FOSC McCormick (Phone Duty Officer) activated START and the Level A Trailer. Those resources departed Dallas to meet with FOSCs, TCEQ OSC Kerlin and the Fannin County Environmental Officer. Approximately 15 people have been evacuated and will remain sheltered until the fire is extinguished and/or monitoring shows that no hazardous constituents are coming offsite.
