On July 14, 2017, the Franklin Park Fire Department discovered and responded to an oil spill they discovered on July 14 at 1428 hours. The oil spill has spilled into Silver Creek, which feeds into the Des Plaines River about 1-2 miles downstream.. The Fire Department deployed absorbent booms in two locations in an effort to contained the oil spill. The Fire Department has requested assistance from EPA.
