Flash Message: Region 10, Pipeline Release, Twin Falls, Idaho

Report as of: 2300; April 3, 2018

Overview: Andeavor, formerly Tesoro, operates a refined fuel pipeline through southeast Idaho. At approximately 1730 local time today they received reports of strong diesel odors near Twin Falls, Idaho, in an area close to their pipeline right-of-way. As a precaution, the pipeline was shut in and assessment and response resources activated. Teams confirmed a release from the pipeline which has impacted about 300 feet of an un-named creek and a pond. Containment boom has been placed at the leading edge of the observed impacts to prevent any further downstream migration. The unnamed creek feeds into Mud Creek, a tributary of the Snake River.

State, Local and other Federal Agency Actions: Idaho DEQ has also been notified and EPA is coordinating with State response staff.

EPA Actions: EPA mobilized OSCs Vanderboom and Ball from the Idaho Operations Office in Boise. They are on scene and have integrated into Unified Command with Andeavor.
