On 2-22-05 EPA Region 6 received a call from the NRC of approximately 1,500 tires burning. Reporting party to the NRC is the Brownsville Fire Department, who first responded to the fire on 2-21-05, at 1330 hours CT. The local fire department has requested EPA assistance and the EPA has mobilized the START 2 contractor to assist with air monitoring and technical assistance.
