The geographic coordinates of the site are 41.865589 degrees north latitude and 80.782495 degrees west longitude. According to the Ashtabula County Auditor records, the properties occupy approximately 0.45 acre and are located in a commercial portion of downtown Ashtabula. The 4509 Main Avenue property is a five-story brick structure, and the 4515-4519 Main Avenue property is a three-story brick structure, with a basement level occupying both properties. The properties are bordered to the north, east, and south by active and vacant commercial buildings and to the west by a parking lot.
The Carlisle Building was referred to US EPA by the City of Ashtabula due to the concern of asbestos and hazardous materials in the building.
