On the morning of 10/17/2018, two boats on the Hoquiam River, in front of 220 Monroe Street, sank. Diesel and other fluids were released and washed down the river. The property owner put out a small amount of boom around one sunken boat and Washington Department of Ecology responded to assess the release. They asked EPA for assistance and EPA sent an OSC to the scene in the afternoon. Diesel could be smelled downstream past the first bridge downstream from the release.
