On 04.28.21, the New
Mexico Environment Department (NMED) was notified of a residence in Los Lunas, NM where the recently deceased owner
had left multiple drums and containers of unknown wastes on the property. The initial NMED assessment confirmed deteriorated and leaking drums, small chemical
containers, cylinders and five gallon buckets.
On May 6, 2021 NMED contacted EPA
to request assistance assessing the site and cleanup.
On May 13, 2021, an EPA Team deployed to the site to conduct an
assessment of the residence and onsite structures as well as the abandoned wastes. Radiation (RAD) monitoring will also be conducted at the site.
