The Regional Response Team Region 6 (RRT6) Air Monitoring Initiative aims to consolidate air sampling, monitoring, and regulatory, information as a resource for emergency response activities. This website was created to efficiently distribute this information, supporting safe and informed actions for the EPA, State, and local partners.

 

Under the Documents section, the index describes the various resources available on this website which are sorted into categories. The categories are described in the table below.

Category

Description

Air Monitoring

Air monitoring information for a variety of chemicals selected by EPA, including emerging contaminants of concern and those frequently encountered in emergency response. The documents in this category include information on exposure limits, instrument detection information, and instrument availability for EPA Region 6.

Air Sampling Methods – EPA

Guidance for EPA air sampling methods for a given chemical, as referenced in the Air Monitoring documents in the first category.

Air Sampling Methods – NIOSH

Guidance for The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) air sampling methods for a given chemical, as referenced in the Air Monitoring documents in the first category.

Air Sampling Methods – OSHA

Guidance for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) air sampling methods for a given chemical, as referenced in the Air Monitoring documents in the first category.

Chemical Data Sheets

Chemical Data Sheets (CDS) prepared by NIOSH of the chemicals included in the Air Monitoring documents in the first category. These CDSs contain safety information such as respirator recommendations, methods of exposure, and symptoms of exposure.

EPA ER Air Monitoring Guidance

The 2020 EPA Emergency Response (ER) Air Monitoring Guidance Tables. These tables provide guidance for potential Contaminants of Concern based on the type of emergency response.

HazCat

Documents related to the Hazard Categorization (HazCat) process for determining the hazard class of unknown materials. These documents include the HazCat manual, details for different tests, and charts for identifying hazard classes or materials based on HazCat Results.

Louisiana
