US EPA is treating and disposing of waste at the Dededo
Waste Piles site from February 19th through May 2024. US EPA
received a request for assistance from Guam EPA to remove hazardous and
contaminated wastes from the site. The site is located northwest of the
intersection of Marine Corps Dr. and Bartolu St. in the Ipapao District, Dededo,
Guam.
The piles contain waste contaminated with:
- lead and other metals,
- polychlorinated biphenyls,
- pesticides, and
- petroleum hydrocarbons.
EPA will remove the contaminated material, treat it, and dispose
of it in permitted landfills according to the waste sampling results.
