On October 31, 2023, EPA received a report
from the National Response Center (NRC) indicating at estimated discharge of
1,000 gallons of diesel fuel from a storage tank at a gas station/truck stop in Oklahoma
City, OK. Later, the RP updated the NRC with a new estimated volume of no greater
than 5,000 gallons discharged from the tank, and approximately 600 gallons
migrated into a nearby creek through a drainage ditch. The RP further reported to NRC that a cleanup contractor had
secured the discharge from the tank and contained the spill to prevent any further
migrations into the creek. The following day, on November 1, 2023, the NRC was
informed that the amount of spilled diesel was approximately 17,000
gallons (NRC: 1383206) with an unknown amount of diesel in the North Canadian River. EPA OSC David Robertson
and START were activated to respond to the incident.
