On Friday, January 31, 2025, a concerned homeowner sent a report to EPA requesting assistance to address a potential release of mercury. The report noted a possible release of mercury from a UVC light bulb that shattered during HVAC duct cleaning in July 2024. EPA has mobilized an OSC and START contractor to the site to assess the property with mercury vapor detection instrumentation to determine whether there was mercury present within the property.

A thorough screening of the home with both a Jerome and a Lumex Mercury Vapor Analyzer showed no elevated levels of mercury vapors in the home. A visual inspection of the home found no evidence of the release of mercury. EPA and START departed the Site on the afternoon of January 31, 2025.
