On August 30, 2025, the EPA was notified by National Report Center(NRC) report number 1441361 of a tire fire at a  Local Sanitation Facility located in Woodville, Texas. According to the initial report submitted by Tyler County Emergency Management Office, the fire started as a result from a lightning strike. The fire has continued to burn overnight, while firefighting efforts continue. The blaze is contained, and responders are using machinery to spread the tire piles apart. Air releases from this incident have the potential to impact nearby residences.

An EPA On-Scene Coordinator and EPA’s technical assistance contractor (START) were activated to conduct community air monitoring, evaluate environmental impacts and coordinate  with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality(TCEQ), Texas Department of Emergency Management(TDEM), and Tyler County Office of Emergency Management  at the incident command center.
